VIP211, 3 dishes, DP34 installation

Does anyone see a problem running three separate DP single LNB's into a DP34 and running that to a VIP211?

Thanks up front.

Shouldn't be a problem at all. I have three customers out there with that configuration.
Thanks Mike500. I bought a used dp34 and that might be the problem. The switch is intermittent in recognizing the antennas. One time it might see 110 and 119 and the next see nothing. I tried doing a switch check with no switch attached to reset things, but it did no good. I wish I had a known-good DP34, but don't.

I had a similar problem using a DP34 switch. My setup was with one dish rather than 3 seperate dishes, but I had the same issue as you. My receivers were a DP322 and a DP311. I as you decided the switch may be bad since I had bought it used. I replaced it with a DPP44 (I was furstrated with the DP34 not working correctly, so I went ahead and paid more to try the DPP44.), and everything works great now as it should.

Does anyone know if it is common for DP34 switches to go bad such as this?
A lot of DP34 have been sold and many questionable ones have been run through Ebay for "bargain" prices so buyer beware.

Like he says....

I've never had an problem with NEW DP34's. Then again, I got mine directly from Echostar.

Send me a PM.

I've had installations with 2 or three of them cascaded.

They all worked fine.
I'll not buy another used one.
An installer brought in a lot of used ones to a delaer, who I serviced. He said that one in three were bad.

It was no problem to the dealer, though, he just RA'd them for the cost of shipping.

I'm not sure, however, that he got NEW ones. He said that they were refurbs.

I'm not sure that Echo is making new ones. The NEW ones that I have were manufactured a couple of years, ago.
Thanks for the heads up.
DP34's were often installed outdoors exposed to the weather and exposed to the heat of direct sunlight.

In refurbing them, Echo replaces the connectors, screws and cases. So, they look like new, but internally, on the circuit boards, they might have experienced heat degradation, which does not show up in electrical performance tests.
