Is there any advantage (audio wise) to connecting the 211 via HDMI vs optical input on an AV receiver? I have a Panasonic XR70 AV receiver that can accept HDMI (input is version 1.1, output is version 1). I've connected both ways successfully and have been doing a/b comparisons and haven't been able to detect a difference in audio quality (or video wise for that matter). The XR70 detects and appears to be decoding 5.1 just fine either way.

I would think digital is digital, but perhaps I'm missing something. Thanks for any input.

The main advantage of HDMI is the convince of using only one cable. If E* ever uses Dolby Digital Plus or TrueHD (very doubtful) then you would need HDMI to pass the decoded LPCM audio to your receiver.
