vip612 - accessing recording reboots receiver

The subject line probably seems to make no sense, but here's the situation:

I recorded an HD show. Every time I go to the show in the menu and try to select it (even before I get to the menu item that will let me start playing it), the machine reboots.

So the sequence is:

Two pushes of the DVR button (takes me to the list of programs).
One push of the Select button to open the folder the program is in
Highlight the program I want to see and push the Select button.
At this point, the machine reboots.

Has anyone ever seen this? Could the hard drive be defective?

Thanks.

Power cord reset done? That's SOP when you see anything unexplained.

No, I didn't do that. That's when you unplug the receiver for half-an-hour, right?

Thanks.
It Just needs to be unplugged for a minute or so. Just give it time for the HDD to stop spinning and everything to settle down. Then plug it back in.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I deleted the show before I could find out if this would work. But if it happens again, I'll try it.

Thanks to everyone.
