So I have an OTA antenna. Through my TV OTA tuner, I get guide info for what is currently playing on a channel. This happens when I hit "info" on my TV remote. So I connected the OTA coax to the VIP612 and scanned for my locals. It found all my local digital channels and integrated them in the the DBS program guide. It highlights them yellow and says "digital service." However, it will not show any other information in the guide like what's currently playing as my TV does with the OTA signal passed directly to the TV. This doesn't make sense to me, how do I get the OTA info to display on the VIP612? Also, when trying to record an OTA program, the
612 won't let me record in the future, always only for 2hr blocks starting from the minute I press record on the DVR. How do I fix this?? Thanks!

You need to subscribe to locals to get OTA guide info.
So the OTA guide data that is passed from the broadcast through my VHF/UHF antenna that my OTA TV input shows is not able to be passed through into the OTA input of the VIP612? That's seems kinda stupid. Even with my other TV that does not have its own OTA input where I use a separate OTA tuner, the guide info is passed to the tuner and displays. So I need to pay dish $5/mo to get guide info which with anything else will show for free?

The Dish guide data is more comprehensive and more reliable and goes farther into the future than the OTA-provided.

In my area alone, the OTA guide is very unreliable, sometimes there for one channel not for another... sometimes there part of the day sometimes not... and never goes out more than a few hours into the future.

Dish guide data is for up to 9-days... very important for setting DVR timers.
