does anyone know what error codes 05 and 06 mean. the unit will record programs and then it will say that the system has an error and will not let me play back the show. then it gives those two error codes. mostly 06. also i noticed yeasterday that it would pause live tv, but would not change off the paused screen unless the chanel was changed.

also, ever since i got the unit, aprox 2 months, the dvr has to be turned on for atleast a half hour before the control works. it will only work if your 3 in away from the signal reciever.

The error codes are in a pulldown in the left column, the two digit codes are toward the bottom of the list -

Symptom
Errors 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07.

Cause
A file error occurred when a DVR recording was interrupted by signal loss or power failure.

Prevention
You can avoid issues by ensuring that the dish is clean, the cable is protected from damage from lawn equipment, animals and the elements, and all cable connections are secure.​

It sounds like a really bad receiver ... not typical at all.
Call dish and get a replacement. If you can't the first time, call again.
