I searched around the DBS talk to see if anyone had mentioned these. I could have missed it, if I did sorry. My buddy and I are considering one of these for tailgate days. It's interesting idea, it's a bit expensive @ $699 retail for the portable unit. It is much easier than hauling a dish around though. The website says that there are working on getting the Qube compatible with D*'s KA band for the HD. Looks like it's already to go with Dish HD.

If anyone has had some experience with one of these I am looking for a review.

Great device, I love it.

Overpriced? If you think so, but imo, its far from overpriced. Throw it on top of the truck or the camper, even on a picnic table and go to the tv, use the remote and point to the 101. You will get all of the 101 sd programming, it will not work with HD though, but for what I wanted it for, it was not vital. I bought mine for $550 including shipping. I have used it at 3 races, 2 camping trips and a tailgating party at a buffett concert.

If you'd rather not fuss around with pointing a dish listening for the tone, or having someone help, go for it, you will not be disappointed.

I subscribe to a small magazine called "Toyhauler Magazine" and they just happened to do a review on it in this months issue. They have a lot of the stuff online but unfortunately they don't have that article online. The review was just done by an end user not an "expert" but he liked it. He is actually the moderator of the toyhauler section of RV.net forum, "dedmiston". He actually banned me from the sight after I had been a member longer than him, about 4 years so be sure to tell him I, "somekevinguy" sent you. You mentioned it was easier than hauling a dish around. If that is your main reason and don't mind pointing a manual dish, I have this one and I love it. Way easier setup than any of the other ones I have used you just throw it on the ground and flip it up and it stays put and it folds flat with a nice carrying handle. It has a built in compass and level in the base and the azimuth adjustment is really easy too.
