Thanks for the heads-up. Although I had to direct tune it when I saw your post. My guide didn't show the channels. It goes fro.m channel 2 and the next one in the list is 38.

It looks like the HD only filter takes out the SD channels and doesn't automatically give you the HD equivalent. So a minute of editing my favorites got them back in the list.

Thanks to Directv for giving us a nice Labor Day present.
Guys there are two locals showing up but I am only getting a picture on the standard channels. Nothing on the hd ones when I tune them in.
The loud audio problem that plagued the SD locals for years, also seems to have been fixed.

WOW that was a surprise. I thought this was for October? That is cool. One question, is OTA MPEG2 or 4? Does it take less DVR space on MPEG 4? All locals are MPEG 4 correct?

Yes, the satellite locals are MPEG4 and OTA is MPEG2, so the satellite local feeds will use less DVR space.

Thanks for the info!
Are they already duplicating all of the LR SD channels in MPEG4, too? IOW, is the 119 sat no longer needed to get the LR SD locals if one has an MPEG4 receiver?

No, only the 72.5 satellite markets are moving to 99/103. 101 and 119 markets will still have their SD locals on the satellite where they are now.
Please post your issues in the appropriate thread in the HD locals forum. Thanks.
I noticed yesterday that my 99(s) signal strength started showing a bunch of transponders with high signal. So I thought "oh, they must be doing some early testing for our october rollout."

So this makes sense that Springfield, Baton Rouge, and Central Arkansas got ours all at the same time. I was showing a bunch of 99(s) TPs in the 90s and 80s.

So long 119 (for me)... Don't let the door hit ya on the way out!

Not if you want to watch any digital sub channels or PBS-HD, not yet carried on D*.
Sucks that my market was scheduled for September launch and DirecTV chose a market they announced for an October launch instead :(

I know, but the three markets launched today are all geographically nearby. I wonder if that was a consideration for the change? There's still plenty of time left in September.

Except that LR was originally slated for Q4 2006. :sure:
Finally local HD without rabbitt ears!!!
Okay, do I need to reprogram all my season passes? I.e. if I had a season pass for Simpsons on channel 16, but when I reset everything and removed the OTA settings it lost the guide. Will everything eventually rebuild with the same channel? Or is there some channel ID serial number code in the background we're not aware of?

You will want to re do all your season passes for HD locals via the sat, or OTA as the case may be.
