was this a Dish blackout?

I'm a North Carolinian who recently got Dish Network, with my plan including local stations. On Saturday at 3:30 I got the Ole Miss-Wake Forest football game on my local ABC affiliate. But I couldn't get anything on ESPN2 (I got a message saying something like "this channel not available now"), which was showing an alternative ABC regional game. I think it was Oregon State-Penn State.

Can anyone explain the problem here? While I didn't care about missing the Nittany Lions rout the Beavers, in the future there are likely to be alternative games on ESPN2 that I care about.

Thanks for any info.:confused:

yes espn2 was blacked out on mine this weekend too;
On Directv the game not on my local ABC station was shown on an ESPN alternate channel in SD.
Usually how this works is that your ABC station shows one game and then ESPN/ESPN2 shows the other. ESPN2's main feed was showing the Ole Miss/Wake game and that is why you couldn't see anything on it and it was blacked out. If everything worked correctly, then you should have been able to see the Oregon State/Penn State game on one of the ESPN alternate channels (either channel 141 or channels 145-147...I'm not sure which since I'm not a DISH subscriber and just looked up their channel list). If ESPN2's main feed was a different game than your ABC's game, then ESPN2 would be available and the alternate channels would be blacked out.

That makes sense. I should've thought to look for it there (on the ESPN alternates), and I will next time. Thanks.:)
