The HR20 Owners Manual says that because it has 2 SAT tuners and 2 OTA Tuners you can " ... watch and record up to 3 programs at a time (two from the SAT and one from the Off-Air in) ... ". Found on page 6 under 3) SATELLITE IN 1 ...

As far as I can tell this capability doesn't work yet. If I try to record 2 and watch an OTA channel I get the "... recorder must stop recording and change channels ..." message.

Does anyone know when / if this capability will ever be enabled?

Or, am I missing something?

Given the architecture (4 tuners) it would seem this should be possible.

I'm not sure if the tuners are fully independent (they are not in the DirecTivos, for instance) or if the limiting factor is data rates to the disk and thru some of the other subsystems.

You are correct, but that should only affect playback. BTW, only 1 HD stream or 2 SD streams.
