Hello everyone I been lurking on this board for a couple of weeks and learned alot! Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences with the new HR20-700. Had a lot of problems with my first HR20 and D* sent me a new one which arrived today. My qestion is, I like to hook-up my new HR20-700S to the dish and get it up and running but my family still has programs they would like to watch that on in the VOD. Can I watch the programs stored on the old HR20 VOD and not have it hooked-up to the dish?

Yes... well you should be able to.

When you are in the download sat info, hit the EXIT button.
Don't deactive the unit though until you are done watching the content.

As once you dactivate it, you can't access the recordings.

Thanks Earl! I appreciate the quick response! I tried taking the cables off the "new" HR20-700S and put them back on the "old" HR20, attached an HDMI cable and hit the red "reset" button! It worked! It's playing back the programs on the "VOD" - no problem!. The only thing is the error code "771" on the bottom of the screen after I returned the cable to the new box... Any way to turn it off?

771 I think is the access card, or you deactivated message right?

I don't think there is any way you can turn that off...

Sorry
