Has anyone used the new WD20EARX or WD25EZRX?

I am looking for a new WD drive and with the current drive shortage I am curious what people are currently starting to use.

Thanks!

There are several threads with people using the EARX drives. You won't however be able to use the 25EZRX because the limit on drive size for the DVR is 2TB.

I haven't seen any negative posts about the EARX drives. I might even have one. I've completely lost track of what's in what.

Price on the EARX really dropped. I'd still wait a month or so and wait for the prices to fall back to pre-flood prices.

EARX drives may work fine, but they are not rated for 24/7 use in AV applications such as dvrs.

That should happen soon actually. Our rep at Dell says their inventory has caught back up.

The problem going forward now is that all the companies shortened their warranty time. Makes me wonder what the drive quality is like post-flood.
This is something I've never seen before at Amazon: they threw a flag on the play!

This is on the page for the EARX drive:

Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

I've seen that in the past. It was also another western digital hard drive that was at issue then.

If you hit Amazon a lot, you'll see that on many items, not just electronics. I think it's kinda nice of them.

They are an impressive company, just shy of Apple in my book in the way they approach things. And this is the way good companies handle these sorts of things, by getting out in front of controversy and putting the customer's interests first. Kudos. The not-so-veiled secret here is that the customer's interests ARE the company's interests, but as the company you have to some times take the long view to understand that. One of the reasons I buy all of my drives there.

As for the drives, I vote for tried and true (EARS/EVDS/EADS), but I appreciate all of you thrill-seekers testing new models for us. Pioneers suffer the arrows, while settlers end up with all the land.

All 6 of my WD20EADS Drive have worked Flawlessly along with my WD10EADS Drive and I would recommend them to anyone who can't get the WD Green AV Drives.

Agreed. I've really never had a problem with Amazon. Rather amazing when I think of how many things we buy on Amazon over the course of a year. Even when my new TV was delivered four hours late, Amazon did everything it possibly could to keep me calm. They even gave me a call as soon as they were notified of the delivery.

Now if the prices would just drop...

My EADS and my EARS, neither of which are made with DVRs in mind, cool my 20-700s down to 118 degrees whether used internally or externally. I find that quite impressive.
