TiVo subscribers will receive special highlights of 9/11 commemorative programming as part of a cross-promotional deal with PBS. The initiative will be the first visible result of a six-month alliance between the two companies, intended both to boost PBS viewership and highlight the TiVo digital video recorder's capabilities. The companies said they will also be working together to devise other innovative DVR applications. The commemorative content will be sent to all TiVo units during otherwise idle time, where it will be stored in the reserved memory rather than reduce the number of hours consumers can record. The PBS special viewing options will be offered as a choice on the main user menu. PBS has an extensive slate of 9/11-related programming called "We Remember" that will explore the tragic events from many different perspectives. This programming will be augmented with interactive PBS.org Web sites and classroom connections.
