I know for sometime members here have posted how they love local weather on the 8's......but D* doesn't have it. This is not something I ever even used when I had Comcrap. But, when I view my bill online, at the top it says "Now you get your local weather six times an hour with Local On The 8s on The Weather Channel (Ch. 362). It's your weather, your way. Only on The Weather Channel." Is this something new? Is this what you guys have been waiting for??

The caption wasn't on your bill? Or the local 8's weren't working? In my first post, the info I posted referencing the local 8's came from my bill, I just copied and pasted it.

This feature should be coming soon. It was also mentioned in the September issue of Directv's Access Magazine (see this thread).

..and I think it's only going to work on the SD version of the Weather Channel too. That stinks.

yea we were "discussing" how it says it we have that feauture in the september magazine but some people said that since its september directv has until sept 30 to get it going.

now that it actually says "Now you get your local weather" on your bill i wonder the rebuttal those same people will come up with now.

I'm guessing 'cause the bandwith to have both at the same time isn't available.
Dish is the same way - their interactive weather widget is only on the SD channel.

I would think there would be more bandwidth available on HD Channel, being the last 2 satellites are only viewable by HD (mpeg4) receivers. Just having it on SD just isn't right.

The weather star HD is only in beta testing and they don't have an HD star running in national mode like they do on the SD feed at the direct TV head end.

The weather star / intelstar may be part of this.

I'm sure we'll have all these Weather Channel locals running by the time D-317 is lit up. :lol:

We may see nbc weather plus and weather scan become the same thing soon and Direct TV pick up local sub channels in some areas or you will be able to see it with a OTA hook up.

LOT8 + more local 24/7 is better then just on the 8's.

Or a they can find a way to run the software on your box.

EAST AND WEST feeds in HD of most of the channels is better then LOT8's if you had to pick one or the other.

Don't care that it is on SD except I have Hide SD duplicates. LOT8's is not worth having all those SD channels in my guide.

They need a work around.

What if you add TWC SD as a favorite, and then hide SD duplicates. Will it show up in the guide?

Didn't work for me. I had to keep hide off and just remove all the other SD duplicates manually.

we don't even know how this is going to work and HD one may come later.

Just got the AM21 to use OTA and view my NBC affiliate sub channel for local weather, works the best and is 24/7

Good point. But I'm looking forward to ditching my antenna as soon as I can get local weather and PBS HD via D*.
