I actually didn't get a canned response when I emailed D* about adding our local CW7. I was told that they are looking into the possibility of adding this in the near future. Now I'm not sure if this is true but it does sound encouraging. Normally I think the usual response is "we have no plans to add this channel". :)

The problem is that it's just a digital subchannel of channel 3 (CBS). So it's not even a "real" station in that sense. And it's definitely not in HD. We do get a CW though, it's channel 15 and it's the national feed out of Baltimore or D.C. Good enough for me.
I'm aware of channel 14 the national feed and because they won't even give us that feed in HD is why I want my local one added. I just thought I would provide an update for others who may be interested. Don't shoot the messenger. BTW WXSP is also just a sub channnel so we can certainly have another one added as well:)

In the Flint market they give us CW on channel 14 as well, but it is the actual feed of WBSF, which is an analog only station channel 46.

I always wondered why they didn't put it on channel 46, but I think it is just becuase they used 14 when we got the national CW (baltimore) and when they switched to our actual local one, they just left it there.

So even if you get Baltimore, that could eventually change.

I haven't talked to Jim Steffe lately but I highly doubt we get CW in HD. They wouldn't pay for another digital frequency for that channel and I'm not sure the CW will exist next year anyways. :(
Thats fine I'm not really all that interested in the HD feed. I mean it would be great but if they are not providing the national feed in HD than I would rather watch my local one in SD than Baltimore. All I am saying is we should be getting together to get this channel on D* and focusing on ways to make it happen sooner rather than later. Lets stop talking about reasons that it won't get added and put in more requests to get it added.

Right you are! We have already lost our OTA CW sub channel in Northern Michigan with the consolidation of station operations by the ABC and NBC stations. With CW having financial trouble, I also doubt they will make it another year.

FYI on WXSP. Only reason it is on DirecTV at all despite being a subchannel is that it was added when our SD locals launched back...man...7 years ago now? Anyway, back then WXSP had half the Red Wings, Pistons and Tigers games on. They were a "repeater" for all those games that were on UPN 50 in Detroit. And since DirecTV is the king of sports they put WXSP on in our area for the sports. They did this with a few other stations around the country just like it. But today WXSP no longer shows all these games since 95% of them are all on FSN Detroit now. However contracts say that WXSP remains.

Neither WXSP or CW7 have any HD feeds and probably never will. WXSP would be the only one I give any chance on. I believe that WOOD plans to build a new digital transmitter just for WXSP after the digital transition. Check our local thread on AVS back a few hundred posts when LIN (owners of WOOD, WXSP and WOTV) finally signed a contract with DirecTV. The WOOD engineers posts from time to time and they had some good info on this one. WWMT as noted only provides HD as it is on CBS only because they are forced to by the network and they don't spend any extra money on it. So I doubt they will ever do anything with the CW (which will probably go under next year anyway).

I also recall the national CW going up right after WWMT renewed their contract with DirecTV. So I'm guessing that that new contract with WWMT allowed DirecTV to give our area the national feed vs. the local CW7 feed, for whatever reason. Obviously just connecting the dots here, but it is a straight line. :D If you want CW7 uplinked I think the first course of action is to contact WWMT and ask why CW7 isn't on DirecTV (or Dish) now and when they expect it to be. They may tell you it's not going to happen or they may tell you to put your request in to DirecTV.

I'm not against getting the local feed added but frankly see no reason why it needs to be. The national feed provides the CW network shows which I'm sure is all anyone cares about on the channel. But then I don't believe there should be any local affiliates anymore anyway. The "networks" should have just one national feed just like the "cable" channels. I could care less for all these local stations.

Ok Ok I see your point. My wife and I are closet 90210 fans and I frankly am just frustrated at not being able to watch the national feed in HD. So I just as soon they pull it and put on the local one in SD. However I admit I don't know as much on the subject as you. I don't understand why the national feed is not available to us. How can we make this happen?

So then there first needs to be a national feed available for you to watch before you start asking to watch said feed.
You are correct sir! Any idea if this will be made available after the HD locals rush is over. I do believe the national feed out of DC is in HD in that local market. Is this true?

Thanks
