Sent an email today to D* asking them to add WGN-HD. Got the following reply.

Thanks for writing. While we don't have plans to add WGN Superstation (307) in HD at this time, we're working to bring you even more HD channels in the near future. Stay tuned to directv.com/hd to keep up with the latest HD news.

Just a canned reply. They will say the same thing the day before they add whatever channel you ask about.

Isn't this a bit different in that the OP of the one thread was asking WGN and the OP of this one asked DirecTV.

I will have to post an email asking them to get it and to give me periodic updates...
