What happened to News Mix and Sports Mix channels? They are currently "Not available at this time".

Just curious. Are they going to go HD like the special sports event mix channels do?

They have been usurped for use for the viacom replacement mix channels. Sports mix will be back for the Olympics.

Oh ok I was wondering if that had something to do it. I guess they didn't have enough hardware or software licence to add the viacom mix channels without tearing down the current mix channels.

HD versions would be nice but I guess its not that big of a deal. The sports ones are HD for special events like US Open, Tennis, and Olympics, Sunday Ticket, etc so thats what matters.

well right now they have the 2 viacom mixes, open chamionship mix in holding and MLB mix live.
Well the last two are in HD right?

I was thinking maybe they only have a software licence or a rack unit that takes in those inputs (most likely via IP over GigE) for 2 SD stations. Or maybe they just don't have the bandwidth on 101 to put 2 more SD channels along with Disney JR which was announced.

When you look at stuff off of 101, its overcompressed, washed out and in worse SD quality than Cable SD. Its a different story for the other birds, but I think since Viacom is a huge deal they must of put those mixes on 101 so everyone can see them. The Viacom "slots" are still there just with DirecTV slates and moved to the ch 8000's range. I noticed this when all our series links and favorites followed the moves into the 8000's. They must be stored as source ID rather than virtual channel number.

Directv is low on SD space and with the upcoming new sports channels / RSN there is not that much room for more SD mix channels.

Rather than bandwidth (especially since the Viacom channels are down), it has more to do with how much hardware they have to do the mix channels.

Hi Everyone,

Why not have espn mix channel so we can watch espn, espn 2, espnews, espnu and have live games like college football and college basketball games.

Also espn3 site and espn radio audio feeds with drop down menu bar with every espn radio stations in the U. S A.

Thanks,

You can get all that on ESPN. com or on Watch ESPN app for mobile devices.

DirecTV does not have a contract with espn3 (as far as I know, the only provider that does is Comcast and that is for select games put on a linear channel).
