Which app? Or, do you mean SSDs?
Tbh as long as it isn’t an SDDVR (no reason you’d still have one since they have IDE drives) this ‘upgrade’ Should work fine on HR2x receivers (R22 included), and Genie receivers with the exception of HS17 as this box is extremely hard to open I’ve heard.

No laughing my dvr is a very faithful 20-700 one of the original very early ones, I got it new whem they fiest came out. I do not want to upgrade at this time for a few reasons
No laughing here — I still have one as well. Several months ago I tried putting a WD Blue SSD in it, but for some reason it would reboot when it got to 29% acquiring satellite info, I moved to a off-brand SSD I had on the shelf and it worked fine — up until about a week ago. Then would never get past “receiver self-check.” Put the original HDD back in and it worked fine. I’ll try another SSD one of these days.

so are there a lot of people that have put external SSD drive upgrades with there DVRs? I see b4pjoe's other posts in threads. I was wondering about how long the drives were lasting and if people have had better luck with certain brands.

The first one I did was a Western Digital Blue SSD. After about a year the receiver started doing frequent reboots so I replaced it with the Crucial SSD I linked to. I have been running it now for a couple of years and it is still going strong. The WD Blue SSD I pulled out of it is being used in a pc and still working fine so not sure what it was when the receiver started doing reboots. Maybe if I had just reformatted the WD Blue it might have been fine. I have used quite few WD Blues without any issues.
