Maybe someone here can help me out... after I went out lined the dish up again.. (it slipped so I screwed one of the brackets tighter) I am now getting "searching for satellite signal" on local HD channels.

BUT... before you say you screwed up the dish.. my signals are stronger than they've been in many months!

Here's the signals I am getting...

101º = all in the 90's except 3 zeros (normal I assume)
110º = all in the 90's
119º = all in the 90's but 2 zeros
99ºc = all zeros (but normal at this point right?)
99ºs = all 90's but (when not zeros.. normal I'm guessing again to have some 0)
103ºs = High 60's but for the 10 zeros. (again I am assuming I don't get those transponders)
103ºc = All 70's or above.

ALL much stronger than before when my dish sagged... and yet back then I DID get shows.. just pixellated a lot.

Something doesn't add up to me... cables are good and tight.. dish fairly well aligned... I was getting local channels before when some of the signals were only in the 30's!

99(c) should not be zero - that's where the new national HD comes from.

Your 103(c) could be higher

Not sure which sat your HD locals come from, but you probably lost the spot beam when the dish moved. You need to be realligned.

I did.. all signals similar. OK.. I'll go back up on the roof and see if I can tweak things... but still.. how can most signals be so strong yet 99(c) all zeros? Could that 1 NLB (or whatever they are called) have gone bad?

99 and 103 are much narrower.. they need better aiming than the rest..

Yup, best thing to do is peak 101 and then use the adjustment screws to peak 99/103.

Another thing to try is to unplug your box from the wall, wait awhile and then plug it back in and check your signals.

I often found that 'reseting' the LNB in that way helps, especially if you've been unplugging any cables as part of the re-alignment.

I have never heard of resetting the LNB. Anyone care to elaborate?

I am FAR from any expert on the matter, but it's my understanding that it has a sort of multiswitch built in that runs off the 12 (14?) volts sent via the cable.

When you select a channel, the receiver sends a signal (22kHz?) to the LNB that says 'please give me transponder X on satellite location Y' and the LNB responds by sending that channel.

Once in a great while I would have weird reception issues after doing an alignment. Simply unplugging my one receiver to 'reset' it all fixed it every time.

It could be static build up on the lines as well Redlinetire. Unplugging all the receivers would allow the static to dissipate and remove the issue as well.

You are correct that there is a built in multiswitch on the slimline LNBs as well ;)

I have been having something simular, but with only the two HR2x recievers in the living room. I finally got around to removing my 6x16 and installing my SWM8. I also switched to a different strand of RG6 to the living room and now everything is fine.

I'm not sure if it was the multiswitch, but I think it was either that or cable issues as I found a couple loose cables when I removed the BBC's.

Long story short, try snugging up the cables.
