I have been pretty happy with all of the updates and havent really needed to be complaining about the following for a long time. I guess luck was on my side. BUT. I recorded the Fiesta bowl (MPEG4) and was watching live and didnt have any of the problems Im going to describe. It also happend on the POST GAME SHOW (game overtime)/

I went to play back either the 3 hour game or the overtime recordings and first I get the black screen, but while its black the time counter on the bottom is moving rapidly through the recording and the video comes on, then it goes into slow motion for a sec or two, then the sound cuts in then out and keeps repeating for the entire freaking recording. Like I said, i saw this live from the same feed/tv and there was no issues. I dont know if this is the same issues everyone has been complaining about but I havent seen this till this. (I rebooted to see if it was going to delete the recording, but it didnt, I manually did it because its not watchable. I have since recorded other programs in the past day and didnt have this problem. Then tonight, even stranger issue, when watching the Heat vs Clippers on channel 96 the picture/sound froze in the first quarter completely and I needed to change startions and go back to get the video back. I was also recording this and recording was all messed up with the black screen. Again I deleted it because it was no use.

Very Frustrated because I really wanted to save the HDTV of the Fiesta bowl, what a game that was and only to watch it and not worky.

There is a slight chance the recording is actually good since you did watch it live. If you reboot the HR20 and the recording isn't deleted, you should try watching it again. You may be lucky, I hope.

Sorry for your problems,
Tom
I had a similar problem Sunday recording the USC/Michigan game. About an hour into the recording I went to the Playlist to start watching the game. Black screen, wouldn't respond to any trick play buttons. I went to Live TV and it was fine, but I wasn't able to rewind. I canceled the current recording and started recording it again, but since it was in the buffer, it picked up the game from the beginning. Again, went to Playlist, tried to Play, nothing. Tried a couple of times, got the same thing. After the game was done recording, I reset the HR20 and when it came back I tried to watch the game but got the Keep or Delete message. Lost the whole game. Fortunately, I had recorded it on my trusty and reliable HR-10 and watched it there with no problem.

I used to record everything on both units but after october, many of my issues went away and hardly had any issues with the unit and I record maybe 10-15 shows a week. This is really first time its been this bad, I rebooted and its still not playable which then I deleted it. Too bad there isnt a mechanism where you can download to a pc and upload here so directv folks could look at the issue. (im talking about using tcpip to do it not just recording with a camera).
