First, welcome.

The HR21 and HR20 are identical except that the HR20 has an Off The Air tuner built in, the HR21 does not. When you order, you're actually just ordering the DirecTV+ HD DVR, which means you can get any of the current models. They didn't bring you the wrong model, they just brought you a different model than you were expecting.

The HR20-700 is my most stable machine (of 4). I'd stick with it.

First of all the hr20-700 has a built in tuner and the HR21 does not so the HR20 is a better choice if you want to get OTA without having to buy the add-on tuner for the HR21.

Second, this is not text messeging. Please spell out words, use correct capitalization and punctuation.

Third, get that Aussie some UV protection. It's not enough too be cool, you have to look cool.

a little much i think
As others have said, functionally, the HR21 and HR20 are the same piece with the addition of a OTA tuner on the HR20. You also have no ability to demand DirecTV give you one or the other. It's a take what you get scenario.

Assuming your HR20 is working fine, then what you should do next is enjoy it.

Also don't use 'the' twice before HR20. :)
What not to do next is let the grammar police take over. ;)

I normally don't, but couldn't help it when I found mistakes in BubblePuppy's post when he was berating the OP.

Ooops. I didn't catch that redundancy when I proof read it.
Good catch.

Note: That typing error is now corrected. Shame on me.:sure:

There is a difference between simple typing errors and a complete and consistent disregard to proper spelling, capitalization, etc.
Text messeging on a cell phone and posting in a public forum are two different exposures.

But let us get:backtotop
Rodney’s Rule: When pointing out flaws in the grammar, spelling, or typing of others, the likelihood that you yourself will also make such an error approaches, but does not quite reach, 100%.

Now, back to the OP’s issue: My advice is to keep the HR20. I have four of them. Two were installed new about two years ago and the other to were refurbs added over the last 6 months. Other than the occasional “bugs” that crop up for all models (blank recordings, problems with Media Share, lock-ups, etc.) I am very happy with them. I do hear some HR21 users complaining that their remote response speed is lacking as compared to the HR20. You really don’t have a choice anyhow. Unless the unit is defective, D* won’t replace it. And if it is replaced, there is still no guarantee of getting any specific model.

nah, you ordered a HD DVR. Which D* sent you. No CSR has control over what is in the distribution channels.

Ironic, isn't it? All in a huff about capitalization yet spelling doesn't seem to matter. I sort of feel that bad spelling is the worse crime of the two.

+1 (Trying to be 'mightier than thou', yet with spelling errors in the process-- "Pot calling the kettle black".... hmmmm)

I'm wondering which is the correct capitalization for the models in reference? Is it hr20 or HR20?
