Ok, I'm a newbie so bear with me.

I have a Dish 500 with legacy LNB. I can get all my programming, but not my locals. The tech support guy said I need a new receiver because it can't detect a switch. So...

1) On a one receiver setup, where does a switch go/do?

2) Would not having one affect me not getting locals?

I'd hate to buy a new receiver if I don't need one.....
