DIRECTV's statement about carriage of Sunbeam Network Corporation channels

That message on D*'s website about this latest dispute doesn't sound as confrontational as the one they had with Fox a couple of months ago, but I'm concerned since there are only 3 stations involved (albeit in two major cities) if they don't come to an agreement will this dispute fall through the cracks and be put on the back burner at D*.

Interesting. What affiliation, are these stations?

Well, you can be heartened by the fact DTV seems to get things like this taken care of most of the time before any actual channel loss occurs.

I think Fox was just a very situational thing. Probably won't see anything like that for quite awhile, and was mostly Fox.

they better get this settled.
The Bruins play like 5 times in the coming months on NBC (channel 7 in mass where i live).

This best get settled especially after prices just went up.

Gee, where am I going to get my 18+ hours of "breaking news" and incessant network pre-empts

I know it's not possible under current regulations -- I just wish that these local affiliates could compete with one-another on price, vs. the "right" to eyeballs within a geographic area.

I'd gladly take the Providence locals if it shaved money off the monthly bill...

One small update that may or not may mean anything: On WHDH's web site, the notice about the negotiations is now only about D* - there was a cable system (whose name I've forgotten but I believe started with "Media") who was also in negotiations but are no longer in the notice, so I assume that part was settled.

After (thankfully) totally botching my prediction about the Fox dispute (for those who don't remember I thought that one would outlast the Versus dispute) I'll leave it to the experts to read this tea leaf.

It seems that a 7-1 (SD) has been added to the guide recently. Wonder if the negotiations involve the alternate streams... The alternate here in Boston is This TV (7.2). Wouldn't suprise me to see Sunbeam and its leader Darth Ansin hold out to add another three viewers to its alternate streams...

I think that's just a placeholder channel for announcements - there's a similar "channel" at 56-1 (they did the same thing according to this recent local dispute thread) - which have been up since Tuesday morning (that's how I found out about the dispute in the first place).

Sunbeam Television Shuts Out DIRECTV NFL Fans in Miami in Attempt to Extract 300 Percent Pay Increase

Sunbeam Pulls WSVN (Miami) and WHDH/ WLVI (Boston) Off of DIRECTV, Refuses Request to Keep Channels Up While Talks Continue Leaving Their Viewers Out in the Cold

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sunbeam Television, a Miami-based station owner, today denied DIRECTV customers in its south Florida hometown access to their local FOX station, blacking out this Saturday's and Sunday's NFL divisional playoff games in an egregious attempt to extract a more than 300 percent increase in fees. As a result of Sunbeam's actions, DIRECTV customers in Boston have also lost their local NBC and CW affiliates.

The NFL playoff game between NO and SF starts at 4:30pm EST. Both sides are probably playing chicken until the ump comes out and flips the coin. Then we'll see if it's heads or tails...

I don't know who's to blame and being the NYC DMA this doesn't affect me directly, but one thing I do know...NEVER believe either side's numbers.
Don't believe them but if they say 300% increase it's probably around 200%. That's still a huge demand.
