Have you called to speak with a CSR about upgrading?

The HR34 was released nationally for all existing customers on February 9. The website hasn't been updated yet due to limited availability. The SWiM16 modules needed to run the HR34 are also in short supply. When you call D* your initial CSR rep will tell you it's $399 and that no discounts are available because the equipment is too new. This is absolutely FALSE. Just tell that CSR rep that you need to speak with the customer retention/cancellation department. When the customer retention rep comes on the line tell them you need the same discount on the HR34 that new customers get which is $99. When they also say they can't do that, then tell them you'll just need to cancel your account. Worst case scenario that will bring them down to $149. Remember... persistence weakens resistance.

I meant you need a SWiM system... not necessarily a SWiM16 - LOL. You can buy an HR34 on your own through an online retailer if you have $400 to burn and want to pay the full retail price. Otherwise just call D*, ask for the customer retention department, and have them give you a loyal customer discount.

Some have reported that in some cases the retention rep has immediately complied with the request (threat) and cancelled the account with a courteous, "Thanks for being a customer. Goodbye" ;)

That depends on how aggressive you are with the retention rep. Always be polite and let them know you have every intention of staying with D*... you just want to know they're behind you as a customer as much as you're behind them as a provider. You only talk about cancelling after you've asked twice or more times for the discount. If the only thing the retention rep wants to says after all that is "That's fine, I'll cancel your account" then you need to ask to speak with that retention rep's supervisor. Trust me; there's at least one person in the retention department who's concerned about NOT losing a customer. When push comes to shove you can get the discount you're looking for... even if that means you have to hang up and call back several times. It all comes down to simply how bad you want the HR34 and how hard you're willing to work to get it at the price you feel is fair.

So, can I continue to use the HR34 with my wireless home adapters thru my wireless router with the unit or will a tech have to come connect their whole home service equipment? Only asking because I called to get pricing and was told 49 installation to connect whole home. I am already paying 3 bucks for whole home thru my adapters.
