When you wait around for a DIRECTV installer you...

Fill in the blanks folks.

So Sunday I confirmed my appointment for a HR34 to be installed today between 4-8pm, so I arraigned my schedule.
I get a phone call at 1pm today saying my installation was for today between 8am-12pm, huh?

So I call back to see what happened. The it asks me to confirm my appointment for the 27th at 8-12pm.

So I called to see what happened. Non one knows. Nothing noted in the account, no reason for the local installer, NADA! Maybe the all went to the Miami Heat celebration? LOL!

I told the CSR that this was unacceptable and I need someone today. She apologized and offered tomorrow between 4-8pm and $50 credit on my account and $10 for 12 months to compensate. Hell, I miss more than that today and lost business, but its acceptable for now.

If it happens again, its back to Uverse or Dish. Uverse wants me back and is giving me a HELL of a deal. But i have been happy for 12 years with D* and prefer to stay. But not with service like this.

We shall see! maybe DIRECTV should change their commercials, LOL!

Call back, confirm, put a password on your account.

Without a password anyone with your account number can make changes.

4 to 8's suck. ;)

I have a password on my account to login.

Yeah, 4-8 is ideal, but I can't et home until 2pm, so 12-4 did not work.
Also usually installers here are early and this should be a quick install.
My Inlaws Dish service went out, and they were told it would be three weeks before a tech would be able to make a service run. Of course I'm sure new service wouldn't have such a delay.
I would always recommend an AM appointment. this is when the techs are "fresh", an after 4 appointment usually gets a tired tech rushing to get home.....

Agreed...also lessens your chances of being bumped if previous appointments run late...
That's just the way things work in Miami. If the tech doesn't want to handle your install, he can (and will) cancel / reschedule it.

No notice is made to the customer, other than the tech not showing up. When you call in to check, the CSR thinks you're confused. On the surface it looks to the CSR as if you never had an appointment for today.

It happened to you. It happened to me. It will happen to others.

Welcome to DirecTV.

That may be the case in Miami but not everywhere as you imply with the final line of your post. I've had scheduled service calls where the tech was running behind schedule and called to inform me and then call again when he was en route to my location.
This wAs the first time I have had a tech cancel. Every service call I have had, they had never been late. I thought it was ironic this time as DIRECTV is running those ads about waiting for the cable guy.

Yesterday's tech arrived at 4:05pm and even spoke ENGLISH! :-o

.....You begin to do things around the house that you usually do not do like dust things... and when you dust things they can break... and when you break something your wife is really attached to she threatens you with a knife... when she threatens you with a knife you call the police... when you call the police they come and arrest your wife... when your wife gets arrested she gets thrown in jail.. while in jail she hires a hitman to come and take you out..... Don't get taken out by your wife.... just install some rabbit ears on your tv and live happily ever after:)
