Sometime in the near future it appears that Fox may be dumping more affiliates as it acquires stations according to this Broadcasting & Cable story:
The unique pact between Sinclair and Fox, announced May 15 and revealing a series of options to buy specific stations in each other's group, may lead to Fox acquiring as many as three of Sinclair's CW or MyNetworkTV affiliates -- and perhaps turning them into Fox O&Os, as some affiliates fear. Such a play would leave current Fox affiliates in markets that include Raleigh, Las Vegas, Cincinnati and Norfolk without an affiliation.
So not only will you have trouble keeping track of when your favorite show is on, but many may have trouble figuring out what station it's on.:eek2:

When isn't a problem if you have a DVR, but what station can be (since DVR recordings are usually set for a specific channel).

It's been over 17 years now since a bunch of old-line "major network" affiliates in major cities switched to Fox en masse in 1994 -- e.g., the station in Tampa had been CBS since it went on the air in 1955 -- and people seem to have survived, although I still find the channel lineup a bit off-putting when I visit the ol' hometown. :D

Every year the networks swap affiliation in a couple of markets. People are not stupid and can figure out that Fox is now channel 45 and MY is now channel 19. And, in the era of most everyone having DBS or cable, signal strength and tower location are becoming irrelevant.
