Yes, for not only the "hd leader", but the "sports leader" as well, this is sad. Especially when you see carriers like our (syracuse) time warner pick it up. Granted it looks like its from the moon, but, it is in hd. Lets go "hd leaders".

ESPN wants it in the basic tier. DirecTV want to put it in the sports package so they can charge extra for it, hence no ESPNU HD yet.
Already been discussed over and over and over again.;)

Exactly, this is the same type of thing that has been plaguing Dish for years.

I would guess placing it in the basic pier would force a price increase in the basic package for everyone.

That's true with every channel in the basic package. At the risk of starting a rant it is frustrating that the HD Sports leader and the Worldwide leader in sports can't come together and make a deal.

I am indifferent to the package as I subscribe to SportsPack but my guess is that ESPN would settle for parking the U in the Choice Plus package with ESPN Classic, Versus and WGN America as ESPNU has accepted digital basic carriage elsewhere. I just want a deal done as it is painful watching games on the U in SD.

1. Did we need another thread discussing this topic?

2. And you know this is the reason because... cite your source...

You Dont Have to read this Just leave
D emailed me back last week and said they had no plans to add Fox News HD or ESPNU hd at this time......fwiw. That really stinks to me. Now, it may become available next week, but that's what D said.

I do have to call it out when there are already multiple threads dealing with the same topic and a poster claims to know the reason behind this admitted problem without citing his source for the information...

Apologies but there is a long standing thread on this issue:http://dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=131248

and I still want to see the source for:
"DirecTV want to put it in the sports package so they can charge extra for it, hence no ESPNU HD yet"
Most likely they won't be launching this channel till Mid October, when the next big release will probably be. You might have to wait a while guys!!
Check out this page: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=131248

It got a lot more info about what your talking about there!
