I am about ready to call Dish and place my order for their HD programing and a 622. I curently have Charter and am looking for more HD content. As someone new to satellite I have a few questions. From reading the post it sounds like I would need , at a minimum, to recieve signals from satelites at 110 and 61.5 to get the HD channels and other programing. Do I have to include 129 in the list as well? I have located a place on the second story of my house that looks like it faces the same way as other dish installations in my neighborhood that is free of trees and other obstructions but I,m not sure if it allows the dish to point in the correct direction. I guess that I am confused because I have seem some installations that seem to have the two dishes pointed in much different directions. Once I place the order how will I know whether the installer is going to install a 500+, a 1000, or a 1000+ or if they are going to install two antennas. How can I check out ahead of time if I can see the correct satelite from the location that I would like to have the dish installed? Any guidance before I place the order would be much appreciated

In the end, the installer will decide. For national HD, it wouldn't matter whether you got 61.5 or 129 as they have the same national content. St Louis HD locals aren't available yet, but I have a vague recollection they were to be 118 which would be a Dish 1000+ to get 110, 119, 129, and 118 (and no 61.5). I could EASILY be mistaken about St Louis HD locals though. Ignoring where HD locals will eventually be located, a Dish 1000 with 110/119/129 would work for you and so would a Dish 500 for 110/119 and a separate dish for 61.5. As long as you can see EITHER 129/61.5 at your selected location, you can get the "Voom HD channels".

Before you order, look into ClubDISH to save the initial $50 activation fee. I can supply a ClubDISH number, but so can any existing subscriber. Check Family and co-workers for existing DISH subscribers as they would get $50 also (over 10 months).

I would bet the installer will listen to your concerns and preferences and weigh it with the best possible signal for your setup.

St Louis HD locals became available July 5 from 118.75°. You will likely get a Dish 1000+ (110, 118.75, 119, 129). If there is no spot that can see all 4 slots, you will instead get a Dish 500+ (same as the 1000+, just doesn't have the add-on bracket and LNB for 129) and a separate dish for either 129 or 61.5.
