Who else hates that local games are blacked out now on SuperFan?

I used to love having ALL of the games in the 700 channel area and could pick and choose what I wanted to watch and could flip easily to the Red Zone channel since they didn't black out the local games on SuperFan last year. Now, I have to scroll through my local affiliates and then go to the 700s. It is more cumbersome. Also, by not having the locally shown games on SuperFan we miss having the SuperFan red button functions. Anyone else annoyed by this?

I'd suggest you talk to the NFL blackouts aren't D*'s fault nor choice. Not that it will do any good. That policy wont ever get 'better' for the consumer...

I hear you but last year and I think years before they didn't enforce it for whatever reason. I just think it sucks that they do it now.
They could easily redirect the appropriate local channel to the appropriate ST channel. Why they don't is beyond me, for all the money they charge.
I have not had a game blacked out so far this year.

Are you within the blackout radius of the Chiefs? If so, do Chiefs games sell out?
I set a game to record the first week in the 700s and GameSearch actually found the game on my local affiliate and recorded that one instead.

Set up your own Favorites list with only the NFLST channel numbers and your local CBS and FOX affiliates. That works fine for me!

Not sure they can on a zip code by zip code basis. Not sure if it is in the technology or not. And I am not sure I want them to. I have seen plenty of times that the network shortcut from something goes to a DC station rather than the Baltimore one. I get the latter, not the former.
Doesn't bother me.

The CBS here is exclusive Chiefs but I dont know about the blackout. I also am unable to get any locals from D* so I dont know if that has anything to do with it or not either. No HD or SD blackouts so far though. No complaints either though.

Nor here. But I am not within any teams local market either if that has any impact.
No blackouts here.
You don't get Superfan at over $200.00 a season to watch local games, you can watch those for free..... or get a TV with PIP, watch your locals directly on the TV (OTA) and switch between it and the D* receiver on nother input.
I live 70 miles from Chicago and they blackout SD but HD comes in every week. I can live with that.
I set up a favorites called "Football" that includes the 700 channels and local affiliates that have games that week. That way on the guide I only have a few channels to choose from while I'm surfing between games. Or you could use the view previous channels feature on the yellow button menu.
Nothing new here. We had Fox games blacked out last year but not CBS. Now both are blacked out.

This was already discussed in a thread earlier this year.

The blackout rule for local games has *always been there*. Enforced forever on SD games. Enforced spotty for HD games, depending on local contracts with the affiliates.

In my market local Fox HD games have always been blacked out the past 2 years, started the week our HD locals went live. But local CBS HD games were not blacked out. Our local CBS station just got a new contract with DirecTV last spring, now the CBS games are also blacked out.

Basically the smaller market you live in the greater chance that the HD games on your locals will not be blacked out on ST/Superfan.

All this time everyone *should* have been blacked out. But some of you have been lucky.

Also, this has nothing to do with blackouts of a non-sellout game. It's all the contracts with the NFL and the local affiliates.

I set this up every Sunday. It will include only the 700 channels and the locals and I take out the games that are on my locals in the 700s so I don't tune to them by accident. I'm actually crazy and set it up for the early games and late games. :D Blue button mini guide makes it very quick to tune to any of the games and makes regular old channel surfing easy as well.

me too...i do a list for 1:00 games & another for 4:00 games.

only problem is then recreating the favorties lists & having to add all the channels back again for the week.

thats just another reason why in the dvr wish list i always vote for directv giving us more than just the 2 available custom lists.....if we had 5 lists available wouldnt have this problem.

Actually I have just 1 favorite list for the NFL. I set it up in the morning for the 1pm games. Then around 4pm I'll edit that list again for the 4pm games. So I only use up one slot for NFL games. And here is a great reason why the PIG (picture in guide) is awesome by the way. ;)
