This thread did it. It pushed me over the edge. The endless grousing, stomping of feet and hyperbole. I just wanted to say, What big babies!

So now it's your time to vote. Who feels more entitled? DirecTV subscribers or welfare mothers? Pick one.

This will be a private poll. No one will know how you voted.

You create a thread entitled "Who feels more entitled? DirecTV subscribers or welfare mothers?" and you're upset about hyperbole?

Anyway, I would say DirecTV subscribers, though not because of the HD complaining. The way some people gloatingly responded to threads about DirecTV weeding out "undesirable" customers would make you think D* provided a television service only for the idle rich.

:hurah: Point well taken. I would hope folks would see such an absurdist poll and see a sense of humor in its creation.

I don't much care for juxtaposing <some> Welfare Mothers with DTV customers...very unfair to the WM. It makes them look bad by even using them as one end of the continuum, the other end being the sniveling minority.

For this reason I didn't vote in the poll, but you can see where my sentiments are.:)

Probably not the best title for a thread... but I feel your pain. The endless whining about why {insert channel name here} isnt already in HD is beyond me. The satellite is up. They are bringing up the channels in a responsible manner, making sure things work properly. I am not a fan of all the RSN's myself, but I understand that college football season is starting and DirecTV's rep in the sports biz is important to them, so I get it. There is no doubt in my mind that if FOX News has done their side of the work, that it will be on line before the conventions begin. I here a lot of complaints about AMC-HD, but it is all about one show, again I get it but it will no doubt generate a million posts about those idiots at AMC who are stretching the other 99% of their programming that isn't in HD.

Look, it's a process. It isn't going to happen over night. DirecTV PAST Performance seems to indicate that they will get the channels rolled out, reponsibly, in a controlled manner and that our happiness level will increase in the coming weeks. If I were DirectTV, I would right now be concentrating on making sure the sports channels are covered (because of college football season - something I could care less about but UNDERSTAND), that Fox News gets handled because of the upcoming presidential conventions (I sincerely hope this happens so we don't have to listen to the FOX NEWS FAN CLUB any longer) and then I would concentrate on my next rollout of locals so they are ready for the upcoming fall television season.... These moves make sense and they will make the most people happy soonest.

I just wish everyone would relax a little bit. It's television. Until the entire television- verse is converted to HD there are always going to be the "well they have it in HD why doesn't DirecTV just throw the switch" ... and the folks on the other services are saying the same things. If it was just that simple they would do it.

And please remember... 90+% of all the material out there isn't even in HD. Some of it will be converted... some of it isn't capable of conversion. Not even everything being produced right now is in HD.

So please keep in mind that even though your personal favorite channel hasn't made it yet.. it will. Eventually. It serves no financial purpose for DirecTV to not carry any channel's HD signal. They have to do this in a controlled fashion. I have already read this morning about audio sync issues on one of the new channels... which probably means that DirecTV engineers and broadcaster engineers are trying to figure it out... now repeat this for each channel as they work out all the little glitches until it the HD Gods smile and deliver a solid in sync signal.

And Just Relax :)

Voices of reason most welcome. :)

And I don't mind. I opened myself for it when I started this poll. I knew what I was doing. The mods have their own rules but as far as I'm concerned, flame away.

I love DIRECTV! I don't care if they choose to have ALL PPV! That's fine with me! Hell when I record shows i have a 50/50 chance of being able to watch them anyway since they may be blank! So why should I give a crap what channels they have?? I pay $100 a month for them to deliver TOP QUALITY PPV straight to my door!!! I don't care about HBO, Cinemax ... AMC ... Fox News ... <insert other here> Not when that bandwidth can be used for PPV!!!

\Is that better?

\\It's not that bad, but don't act like we're not paying too. Just because we don't pucker up every time they bend over.

With the amount of posts I see on here of people saying they called and asked/demanded for something free I had to vote "DirecTV Subscribers". Add to that the amount of people now complaining about the HD channels today, after they knew 2 weeks ahead what channels, and that seals my vote.

OK, I've left this thread open for a little under an hour. I think it's made its point.
