Hi,,,,I have a Dish dvr 508 and a vip622,,,,The 508 will lock a weak signal and give me a picture on a particular transponder, while the vipp622 is incapable of locking at all?...Why is that, and isn't it amazing how the less advanced model can tune what the "most advanced" receiver can't?

i don't know the answer to your question, but one guess is that with the older receivers people complained about the signal going in and out. so maybe with the newer receivers they require a better signal to the point that it has to be strong enough to come on and stay on instead of fading in and out every time a cloud passes overhead.
