I have a Mets fan group here in LA, and we arranged to watch the game TV at a bar today because the game was on FSN-Houston outside of Houston, so we figured that it would be definitely be on EI ... oops, wrong again.

It doesnt make any sense. The Rockies and Cardinals have OTA networks on Sundays so DirecTV doesn't show their feed either. I looked back to every game that the Astros played one of these teams this year, and each time Directv had the Astros feed for the Sunday game. These dates were April 20, April 27, and June 8, and each time DirecTV carried the Astros feed.

In fact, looking back at every Sunday game this year, they carried the Astros feed. Why was this week different?

On the other hand, currently only the Reds feed is showing for the Astros-Reds game next Sunday August 10th. Is it possible that the policy/rules for carrying the My20/FSN-H games changed starting this month?

Does anyone have an explanation?

Yeah. Someone needs to explain why this game wasn't available. Even if the Astros were on My20 they have been simulcasting the games on DirecTv's MLB Extra Innings Package. No Feed at all was available for this game although FSH had the game listed in my channel guide.

Thank you for your input. I saw that thread. I posted a new thread because I laid out all of the facts clearly in the first post (ie that all the previous Sunday Astros games up to today had been carried, including those games where the opposing team's feed was on an OTA channel and not carried. At the same time, next weeks game does not show the Astros game being carried).

That thread that you pointed out a) had no answers and b) did not lay out the total history of Sunday Astros in the first post, making it more susceptible to the facts not being understood and more susceptible to non-helpful answers.

Sadly, no answer has yet to be posted in either thread :-(

The Fox Saturday and the Sunday thing drives me nuts. I never get my Cardinals on Fox Saturday. I end up with the Dodgers or Angels on one fox and the Yankees, mets or Red Sox on the other fox. I know they say they regonalize to protect local advertisers, but how is this protecting advertisers? Instead of me watching fox at 4PM on Saturday I am away from my TV doing other stuff. What did my local fox affiliate sell me? I won't sit here and watch the Mets against the Yankees or the Yankees Red Sox as I have no interest in those teams.

On Sunday, I still don't understand why they can't pick up local television broadcasts. I guess we should be happy the ESPN Wednesday blackout was lifted. That was a huge EI night that no one could watch.

Do the people who design the blackout rules, do it while drinking?

FWIW, you might not have enjoyed the game, Astros won 4-0 and swept the series.

I do agree with you that the game should have been on EI, don't know why it wasn't.

I think that what tends to happen is that rules get written, technology makes those rules outdated, but the process to change those rules is so cumbersome that they get changed slowly or not at all.

I know :-(. We watched on mlb.tv and gameday on a laptop at the bar. MLB.TV was REALLY slow and choppy

EDIT: The game was on CW11. If the game was not shown in Houston, then it was not on a satellite, therefore no EI.
you need to reedit your edit...it WAS available in houston, it was on FSN Houston in SD. It even showed it in the D* program guide under FSN houston. and it showed up when i tried to tune it in as "blacked out" even though i live in ohio and there is absolutely no reason why it was blacked out...but who cares the mets lost so id have turned it off anyway.

As stated, it was on FSN-H outside of Houston(My20 in Houston) (ie if you live in Astros territory but too far away to see My20, you could see it on FSN-H), but for some reason EI didnt carry it even though they have carried this feed EVERY Sunday this year. And it appears that they won't carry this feed next week either (they are only carrying the Reds feed according to the schedule).

Did EI or My20 or FSN-H or MLB or the Astros make a policy change?
