Why would DTV lie to me. Whole home issue

long story, I have 3 hr20's a R15, RCA dvr80 and an HR10-250. My HR10-250 gave out, under the protection plan they wanted to replace with an hr24, I wanted another tivo, it took some arguing but they agreed to send me the THR22 at no cost. I received an HR24 called back they shipped another HR24, they said because I had whole home on my system I could not get a tivo unit, even though I have 2 on my account. They stated they needed to remove the whole home and have a tech drop ship it, fine removed the whole home and finally got my THR22. I called back to add on whole home and they claim my system is not compatible with it and to get whole home I would need to swap out my old dtv units and have a new install with filters and some other stuff in order to get whole home back, I explained that I had it for a year with no issues, they would not budge, I called back twice more and the third was a charm, the CSR goes okay I can add whole home for you and did it. What gives???

They don't like you.
There is a current issue where people are getting sent HR2X instead of THR22. It should be resolved soon. You have equipment that doesn't support whole home so you have a non standard setup. Agents almost never deal with an unsupported setup. It's more of a lack of information than an intentional lie.
They actually told me that they are not able to add it, the option is not there. Also i only want the whole home for the hr20's, not that i have any other choice
You might need to go "unsupported" WHDVR with this. That is best accomplished by logging into the Directv web site and choosing "help", then "contact us" and sending a message explaining what you want to accomplish.

No what I am saying is DTV told me it cannot be done but I eventually got it done. I was just wondering why they initially told me I cannot add whole home. They wanted me to pay for a whole new setup.

I think they consider most people lemmings. What you went thru is probably normal. Most lemmings would believe them. And pay thru the nose for that lack of knowledge.

They said it can't be done because most CSRs don't know anything about the setups and their training told them Whole Home DVR has to be done with SWiM and DECA. You've got 2 receivers left that aren't compatible with SWiM.

Thanks:)
How are your HR20's hooked up for Whole Home DVR now? Are they using ethernet? If so that is unsupported, and that is why you have to get it turned on as unsupported, and why many CSR's dont' understand how to do it.

As Evan_S said most of them think the only way you can have whole home DVR is over DECA and SWM, which I am guessing you do not have.

I have a slimline 5, the 3 HR20's are hooked up via ethernet.

With only three HRs, I'd recommend sticking with your Ethernet system, which will get buggy if you start to add more HRs. I had ten on mine before the DECA system was released and the DECA is much more stable than the Ethernet system was.
