I usually take a receiver back and forth with me when I get to go back home for the weekend (4 days every 3 weeks). Have been taking the HR10-250, but have been getting offers for the upgrade. At my permanent home I still have the old 3 LNB dish. I have even been debating paying a local company to install the new dish. I work out of state and usually move about every 2 years to a new construction job. I always do the movers bit with Directv, but have never updated the dish on my permanent home.

I received an e-mail saying I am eligible for a few upgrade, but I do not know what I would be upgraded to. I currently have a HR20, Sony HD200, H10 and the HR10-250. I may want to upgrade from one of the other receivers instead if given the option, but I will not if I cannot get the OTA signals. So if they do not offer the AM21 I will not upgrade.

So the first question is will the new receivers work with the old 3 LNB dish?

Second is which receiver should I replace?

Third is what is the option for receiving OTA if I get a H20/H21/H23 if I keep my HR10-250? I do not need 3 DVR's.

The new receivers would receive the same channels you are receiving now, with the possible exception of OTA locals if you get a new receiver that does not have OTA. Your new MPEG4 capable receivers would NOT receive any of the new MPEG4 channels without the 5 LNB dish.

As for your second question, I'm not sure how the Sony HD200 compares to the H10 (they're both straight HD receivers, right?). Personally, I would upgrade one of those if given the choice and keep the HR10-250. I believe the H20 has OTA, the H21 does not, I'm not sure about the H23. You always have the option of just running an antenna connection directly to the input on your TV.

As for not needing three DVRs, once you have one and are being charged the $5.99 DVR fee on your account, you'd be paying the same for a DVR as you would for a non-DVR, so why not just stick with the DVR?

The reason for wanting a receiver that will do the OTA is my HDTV at home does not have a built in tuner.

On the straight up receivers the H20 has built in OTA support. The h21 and 23 don't have built in support and don't yet and may never have support for the AM21 to add on ota support.
So if I upgrade I will only accept the H20!

It is still possible to get refurbished H20s but new ones are getting more and more rare.
