I took advantage of free HD Dvr offer on DirevTv.com on the my account page. I was charged $20 fir shipping with free installation. Appt is for next wed. Since I only paid $20 instead of $50 will the installer still add a new outlet for this receiver, or will I have to pay extra for that? Does the $20 just include the tech bringing me a DVR and attaching it to an already wired outlet, or should I be able to get a new outlet installed without having to pay more?

It depends how the work order is listed but it can be modified to be a new outlet at no charge to you regardless.

If the tech installs a new outlet, he will probably not fish any wires through the walls. His install will be to run wires along baseboards where possible and if he needs to come from the outside, he will run a wire along the oustide of the walls and just punch a hole for the most convenient location. If you want more than that, you either need to hire an independant contractor or do it yourself.

A simple hole punch and run along the outside to the switch is all I would need.
