New Direct TV installation this week. Learned allot through this forum before ordering. Have a basic question that neither the Direct TV customer support or the installer could not answer.

I had a HR34 and 3 H25's installed. Have the new Swim dish that I request a SWM 16 versus a SWM 8 but I didn't climb the roof to check. Want one additional HD DVR to be installed in the the master bedroom.

Will 2 HR34's recognize each other or should I install an HR24. Prefer the HR 34 due to the larger hard drive and PIP.

Direct TV will not install two HR34's so I was going to buy one at Solid Signal, if it works.

Working with a very good AV installer on a new house. TV's get mounted next week so I not sure how everthing works at this time. Entire system will be hard wired through a central location.

Thanks.

With one 34 and three 25's, you're already at 8 tuners. Adding any other DVRs or receivers will require a SWiM16 to be installed. So if you don't have the SWiM16 already installed (and you probably don't), you'll need to have that added.

Thanks for the replys. My AV installer who is installing the media center had Direct TV install the SWM 16.

Sounds like all I need is the HR 34.
Based the first post above, I hope your AV installer is more familiar with the equipment then you are. If you have a SWiM 16, it most likely won't be on your roof. If you have a SWiM LNB, then you might want to look at the dish on the roof. Hope it works out for you.

If you have an SWM16, you will have FOUR coax from your dish going to a device someplace away from the dish (probably but not absolutely, in doors). From there you will have coax going to your existing receivers. So go outside and look at your dish. If you see 1 coax cable, you do NOT have SWM16, and you will not be able to add any more receivers without both changing the LNB assembly in your dish, and obtaining an SWM16.
