Ok, have a question about wiring. I apologize if this is somewhere else here, but i wasn't even sure what set of keywords to search on. :)

Ok, so I have a house, well wired. I have the Ka/Ku dish etc. Now, it flows into my house and into an 6(?)x18 wide band switch.

Way at the other end of the house I have a hole in the floor where two of the leads come up. One lead goes to a DVR80 in the bedroom, and the other goes to a HR20 in the den(it is our secondary HD dvr, that I'm hoping to upgrade soon).

The question is, I have a room on the other side of the den that I want to put a receiver. I'm sure the answer is probably no, but if I have a regular powered multiswitch 4x8 (I also have a non powered 2x4) ...can I use it? So I'm thinking the three options are:

1. Use the two leads into one of my older switches, to create 4 lines at that end of the house (2 for HD DVR, 1 for each bedroom).
2. Run new, long(100ft) lines from the main switch.
3. Invest in a new switch that does #1 better(ie, is wideband).

Or is there a better option?

HD must always use a WB switch so 1 is out.
2 and 3 are ok.

unused ports on the main multiswitch? use them, otherwise you need 4 inputs for a second switch.

DIRECTV doesn't currently offer a better HD DVR than the HR20. All receivers that followed the HR20 offer a functionally reduced feature set.

While your running the additional cable to the room beyond, you should run a second cable from the WB68 to the secondary HR20.

i also have a wiring question. with the new swm lnb, can i use a diplexer to combine my ota signal with the sat signal? i was able to do this with E*. i couldn't make it work with my 5lnb from D* so i'm considering the new swm lnb. makes sense? thanks for your responses :)

You can, but keep in mind that the SWM equipment only works with the newer DirecTV receivers: HR2x, H2x, R16, R22, D12. If you have older receivers, you won't be able to use the SWMline dish and will be limited, or forced to a hybrid system, with the external SWM8.
