WMP 11 Library, Networking, & Rhapsody

Does anyone have the following setup:

The Primary PC they use (The one hosting WMP 11) doesn't actually store their media files. Instead the files are stored on a network device (in my case a W2k Server) and the media library in WMP11 is configured to look at files on a Network Share Drive.

Here is my dilemma:

I have the above described setup. I have networking setup on the HR20, and it sees my PC just fine. (Note - I also have a subscription to Rhapsody.)
The HR20 shows my PC twice on the "My Computers" list.

One of the lists, only displays files stored on the 'local' pc. Most of these tunes are tunes i've subscribed too, so the HR20 will not play them. There is an 'X' next to them.

On the secondary 'PC', all 15,000 files in my WMP11 library which are stored on a separate server are displayed. However, none of these are playable on the HR20. All my photos, and all the mp3 music I own is stored on this server.

Anyone have any suggestions or insight as to how I can get these files to play? Or - Why the HR20 won't play them?

Furthermore, has anyone had any success getting Subscription music to play?

I've been doing alot of reading on XBox360 connectivity, Tversity, etc. It appears these media sharing services only allow access into the "local" shared folder. I agree as do others this is a problem because for me I have 3TB of movie files in additional HDDs. If/When D* turns on video I will then have the hurdle like you of not being able to get to those. That's why I'm hoping D* is smarter than MS/Intel and working with 3rd party (like Tversiry) and creating API software we can buy to give full access and playback from our PC or Servers....any shared folder.

By the way.....thread for this is in the new Info Forum Section: http://www.dbstalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=115

So have you looked at twonky as a solution?

This is what I use when I could not get WMP to work.

I have seen that thread out there, I just didn't know how to search for the problem I am having.

So the local folders only thing is by design? That's a frakin joke.

Will Twonky allow me to see my server?
I suppose I could load WMP11 on my w2k server, but I don't use that box for anything other than storage and printing. So that really irks me. Not to mention, I have no idea how WMP11 will run on w2k.

Finally, what happens when I finally get rid of the server and buy a NAS box? I can't run WMP11 off that!

Yup...plus others.........WMP11 only allows for WMV file playback....no MPEG, VOB/IFO or XVid, DiVX. Tversity allows for these but transcodes so you need a beefy PC to not have lag. XBox360 and MS with WMP11 is really putting people in the corner....you see the zillon threads on this in the Connectivity Forum on Xbox site (http://forums.xbox.com/333/ShowForum.aspx). All roads lead to these Media Server software packages. Thus, I'm hoping D* see the light and while they needed to support ViiV/MCE platforms for first cut I'm hoping when they enable video they support folks like you/me that just want a gateway to our media on a PC and playback thru their HR20 hardware decoder.
