Why was WMUR pulled from other counties in New Hampshire because of this distant network fiasco? I thought there was something passed by reps from that state a few months back where WMUR could be availalble to all New Hampshire counties regardless of which DMA they were in. Why was this affected as well as other areas that got significantly viewed channels? These SV channels had been approved by another law I thought.

I will say it is ironic that Boston's DMA has 2 ABC stations to choose from while many people across the country can't even get one now!

Yes

There was a law passed in December 1994 that did just that called the SHVREA.

It was. Unfortunately, the law that allows for WMUR to be put on the NH counties in the Portland and Burlington markets was added to the same section of the law that allowed for distant networks. On top of that the law that allows WMUR in the Portland and Burlington counties in NH specifically states that it is NOT exempt from any court rulings being littigated at the time of enactment. So the Congress critters KNEW exactly what they were doing when they did it.

The judge's injunction dows not say "except" anywhere. :)

SHVERA. That's funny. Four of the first six search results on Google for "SHVREA" are either from the EKB or from Tony's replies to threads on DBSTalk or SatelliteGuys. :)

I used to say SHVERA but I was corrected several times for using "shvera" several times by several people. I though YOU were amomg the correctors, but I could be wrong about that too. So I started using the "corrected" term SHVREA. So, is it "enhancemment and renewal act" or "renewal and enhancement act"? And where is the actual document in the US gov site. I can't find it. I don't care which way it goes.

Some times I feel like the protagonist in 1984. "...is our friend. We have always been at war with..." :)

Also SHVERA was 2004 ... but I guess that is unimportant? :)

Nope. I never corrected "shvera." Don't remember seeing it and don't see anything wrong with it. I have, however, corrected you on "SHVREA" in the past. That might be what you are thinking of.

The injunction may refer to the SHVA and SHVIA, but in reality the injunction applies to Section 17, Title 119 of the United States Code. This section was created and amended by:

Satellite Home Viewers Act of 1988 (SHVA)
Satellite Home Viewers Act of 1994 (SHVA part II)
Satellite Home Viewers Improvement Act of 1999 (SHVIA)
Satellite Home Viewers Extension and Reauthorization Act of 2004 (SHVERA).
