Would you like this added to the wish list?

Poll simply to see if enough interest is generated to add this request to the wishlist

I suggest the reports sent diagnostic keys be stored in the info and test menu. This would be helpful for personal reference or for times like last night when I started the report and was distracted before I could write down the key number.

Sounds good to me... Just some sort of log with date/time and report number...

I've had a report take an unsually long time before... over 10 minutes if I recall... and I wanted to walk away and just leave it going, but was afraid I was going to miss the number...
A good idea that simplifies the process.

Yea, Thats all. Nothing fancy. It could even be added lines of text in the info&text section.

what ???
Yes, a good idea. Where's the related poll to ask how many people are interested in having the option to submit Diagnostic Reports using only the remote? :)

I am not against it, but I hope that I don't have to send so many that I need them to be as convenient as pause and play.:)

This would be a bigger priority IMO.
Me thinks the code monkeys (of which I was one, once upon a time) at D* have enough to worry about with making them have to figure out how to insert a number into a circular list. Unless to just mean the last one, which might not be to bad... However...

A quick and dirty back-end solution would be if D* made the report number available to you when you log into directv.com... I mean they are sending that info to the mother-ship, right? Why not retrieve it from the website, since you need it when your sitting at your computer anyways?

Yes, I can see the complications of a running list. Most often we will be logging them here and could work around it. Having the last report sent listed in the info&test would be enough to capture it for current reference. And the date is part of the code, so it would not have to be anymore than just the code data itself without description.
Another suggestion could be to add a subfolder in the report selection itself. Send new report/ View last report number or list reports

So the new wishlist item would read:
Add a last diagnostic report key number in the info&test data, or in the report option selection.
I think they should keep a log of ALL data transmitted by the machine to DirecTV and make that log available for viewing.
Does this apply only to networked DVRs?

yes
I voted "don't care."
First of all, the title of the thread doesn't tell me anything.
Secondly, the first message is still pretty cryptic. Without reading other threads, people have little idea what is being asked.

I apologize if the title is unclear. It basically is a question of the CE participants to answer ahead of time on whether or not it would be worth the effort to add the wish list item or not. I would not want to clutter the wishlist with unpopular suggestions, so I started the thread to test the waters.
I may been a little too assuming that writing about sending diagnostics reports in the CE forum would be immediately recognized. I know we are all doing our part. Although from most of the above posts, I do not think the idea has gone over too many heads.

But this isn't in the CE forum.

It got moved. I started out there. No wonder there is confusion.
