I'm sorry, I'm a newbie the satellite world. What is the difference between a yellow and a blue rom card.. I was looking at Receivers online, ebay/craigslist and the one girl says that a blue rom card comes with it. can someone please explain the difference?

Thank you
Nate

Nope... not completely true / accurate...

yellow cards with channel logos - the ones Dish replaced were the older revision ones...

Newer revisions of yellow cards with logos on them (or any other face design) are not replaced and still valid...

So .. the bottom line is - NOT all yellow cards with channel logos on them are obsolete.. only some of them

If you buy an old receiver with a blue card, and call Dish with the receiver # and smart card #, and you have an account in good standing, Dish will send you a new Smart Card.

Note that the Smart Card will only work with that receiver number to prevent scams.

Yeah...I'm pretty sure my 301 has that kind of card, and it's working fine.
