Last week's recording of 'The Walking Dead' on AMC was interrupted afer 20 minutes. At the end of the recording is a Blue DISH message screen that flicks on for a second stating that I AM NOT AUTHORIZED...TO VIEW THIS CHANNEL.

It's basically the dialog box that you get when selecting an unsubscribed channel. Of course it kills my recording.

Any idea why this happens? It's not the first time. I think DISH should re-imburse me for my lost time and recording.

Would probably amount to about $.005.
Less then that actually :p

New episodes of the walking dead are broadcast 3 times on sunday evening on AMC, once before comicbook men, once after comicbook men and a third time after Talking Dead.

You can also catch a broadcast of it this sunday before the new episode airs.
To be fair you didnt miss much, they had some nice throw backs to the comics in the episode but some of the characters were a bit more annoying then usual in it in my opinion.

Regarding the actual issue.

The message you got is due to your smart card malfunctioning. Theres a few fixes for it.
Just make sure the smart card isnt a little dislodged (they can be finicky at times), and give the receiver a good old Hard Reset by unplugging it from the electrical outlet for atleast a minimum of 10 seconds.
You should be good to go.

I haven't had that happen to me during a recording... but it would be very annoying. Hopefully it is just a loose card and you can re-seat it. Does your receiver sit in a place where the shelf (or whatever) it is on could vibrate and over time loosen things like the smartcard?

Looks like I have some work to do. I'll check the SMART card - actually, I didn't realize I still had one!

My electrical power issues are mostly upstairs although I did get line voltage fluctuations, but I bought a power conditioner when my last 622 hard drive failed, so power shouldn't be an issue.

I couldn't re-record the show because it was 2 weeks earlier. As with most serial shows, you can usually figure out what happened.

I think I'll do a hard reset with unplugging and monitor closely.
