On page 19 "Recording Programs"

The manual says:

You can record up to three programs at once (two satellite and one from an off-air antenna).

Cool, can't wait until OTA is active.:D

If you are not aware, the manual is wrong. This is not the way it's going to be. At least that's what has been said here.
I think you're being sarcastic, at least I hope. The NEW manual is correct, 2 is the max.
Heh, I didn't know there was a "new" manual.

Good to know D* isn't going to bother replacing the manuals they shipped that contain incorrect information.

Not yet anyway.
It sure would be nice of D* to at least mail us an errata.

Dear DirecTV:

I understand from Earl that you are indeed reading this forum.
If this is true, I'd like to formally express my disapointment and shock that you'd rely on a third-party web forum disseminate corrections to factual errors in the documentation you distribute with the HR20. This is unacceptable and lazy. If you have made functional changes to the operation of the box, such as limiting the number of concurrent recordings to less than what is stated in the manual, or if you are shipping the device with features documented in the manual disabled, such as the ATSC tuner, you owe your customers the courtesy of at least an errata.

Its not like you don't have our address. We get a bill from you every month, which you never seem to have problems mailing.
The manual is correct on page 19, you can record up to three at once as I said earlier. You can record 2 satellite and 1 OTA at the same time once OTA is enabled.:D

That is contrary to what Earl has repeatedly said on this forum.

Once OTA is enabled we can find out for ourselves who is correct.
This all makes perfect sense, NOT!

From what I've been reading while lurking around here, the HR20 has just been limping along and now you want to record 3 programs at once. Maybe you can put a heating pad to it and get it to shoot flames out the top, burning up the 1TB eSata drive your probably going to hook up.

I'll bet the people at D* get a real kick out of reading some of this stuff. I know I do.

Oh, was that too sarcastic? Get over yourselves.:hurah:  :D
Why only three? Why not four (two OTA, two sat)?

As others have said, since it doesn't seem to be sinking in, the manual is NOT correct.

You will only ever be able to record 2 things at a time.
Not to pick nits, but how can anyone definitively state what it will be able to do in the future?
As I have been told... and since OTA has already been in at least one testing cycle.

There is a NET of 2 recordings, accross the 4 possible inputs.

Is it possible that "someday" it could record 3 or 4.... anything is possible.
But as of right now.... I have been told, and all indications are... it will be a net of 2.

Exactly what I was getting at in my message above, Earl. :)
