YTTV App Update

I noticed sometime between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm tonight that my YTTV app (Firestick) received quite the update. The Library (DVR) now has a new and confusing look. They thought going from vertical tabs to horizontal tabs was a good idea... it was not. I haven't noticed any other changes to the Home screen or Guide. The Guide still has the annoying bug where it resets back to the first channel in your list whenever you arrow back from what you're currently viewing to the Guide. They also don't allow you to advance 12 hours or 24 hours ahead on the Guide when pressing the FFW button like DTV or FRNDLY TV. Nothing worse than manually clicking ahead each hour.

Yes. Btw anytime I start having glitches on my Firestick, I check if there are updates that need installed and there was. I updated and installed the software update and rebooted. Afterwards, the stuttering glitch and spinning circle issue was gone. It could've been a coincidence but this has happened multiple times in the past year when something quirky starts happening on an app and simultaneously the Firestick is downloading an update.

Yes. You, me, @sd72667 and anyone else that was watching the game last night. YouTube hasn't said what caused the errors, but it appeared to be just the TNT channel.

A couple of Twitter users claimed last night they experienced the same thing on Xfinity, but it appears YTTV bore the brunt of this one. I popped up the TNT app after realizing something wasn't entirely right and caught the end of the game. Those backup apps are great in a pinch (Peacock is great for Sunday Night Football, if you happen to live in an area experiencing severe weather and getting repeated cut-ins for weather coverage on your local affiliate.)

Has anyone else observed YTTV being very buggy today? This morning I noticed after you choose a program on YTTV's Channel Guide and the program appears, no info banner pops up. Always before, an info banner would appear at the bottom after selecting a program. Also another oddity, if I use the channel up/down button on my remote, an info banner appears each time. But about halfway down my guide after choosing a channel, my channel up/down button feature on the remote stops working unless I revert back to the beginning of the guide. I rebooted several times and cleared the cache in my Firestick settings but it's still acting flaky. WTF is going on with this app? Do the YTTV engineers actually test their s/w before updating the app? Seems YTTV has a ways to go before they iron out the bugs when the NFL Sunday Ticket debuts in September.

Haven't been home today to give it a watch, but will definitely fire up the TV first thing when I return home to see if I experience anything similar.

I tried to watch an episode of a news show on CNN this afternoon. Even though the show is in my library and previous episodes were available, I couldn't start at the beginning of the current episode.

This was a YTTV-wide event due to some sort of system crash.

I like YouTube TV so far, but there are a few quirks that I don’t like.

1. The guide not starting near the channel you’re currently viewing, forcing us to scroll potentially hundreds of channels to see what’s coming on next.
2. Not knowing if you’re live or at your last spot on the show after turning everything off and on after a few hours. I wish there was a setting that could just toggle this capability on or off.
