Zip Codes with Multiple DMAs OTA setup

I live in a zip code 21771, Mount Airy MD, which has multiple DMAs. The 21771 zip code is actually in 4 counties in MD, Frederick, Carroll, Montgomery and Howard counties. Frederick and Montgomery counties are in the DC DMA, and the Howard and Carroll counties are in the Baltimore DMA. When configuring OTA on the HR20 if I enter for my primary market 21771, I get the DC DMA, when I try to setup a secondary DMA and enter 21771 again; the setup comes back with DC again. With the HR10-250 when doing this I could choose Baltimore out of the list for a secondary market.

To make this work for me when setting up the secondary market I used 21776 as the zip code. This added Baltimore as the secondary market.

I’m not sure if I consider this a bug or not, as I believe there are only a few zip codes in the country that have multiple DMAs, and the work around is easy.

Maybe others with multiple DMAs and the zip code issue above could post their zip code and work around zip code.

Good point and DC/Baltimore is probably pretty unique in that case.

Basically when entering the zip code for the DMA any zip code will work. So if you want a next door market you could just find out a zip code in the downtown area for that city and it will work. The HR20 won't care, it will pull up the channels for that DMA.

For myself I have 2 nearby DMA's which I haven't gotten in before on other tuners but I'll give both a try by entering in zip codes for that area to guide the channel list and guide for them, then I'll see if I have a signal or not. If not, I'll try a different DMA and see what I get.
What is your second DMA?

Lansing is off to the East and South Bend to the south. I've never gotten either before in digital but I have gotten analog from South Bend. My antenna is directional to the north at the Grand Rapids towers so I doubt I'll get anything but you never know. I could never get Pax 43 before and on the HR20 now I get about 60% signal so it's obviously a better OTA tuner. So I'll give it a try, no harm done either way. Plus if I can get in CBS from South Bend and not have to deal with channel 3 anymore that would be a nice bonus. :D
Well, I have always received PAX 43 just fine (on HR10 and now on HR20). So, I guess I'll give it a try as well. Now off to find a Lansing zip code....

43 to me is off in a different direction from the main towers in Gun Lake, it's off to the east more toward Lansing. I was pretty suprised to pull it in now.

Good luck.
No go. No signal on any of the Lansing channels. Had to do a "local channel reset" and then add only my local zip to clear the others out. It was not enough to simply run setup again and only select one DMA.
