Ok so I yesterday dish came and replaced my hopper 2 and super joey with a new hopper 3 and joey3. Everything works great, except the guide. When first installed it gave the pop up about downloading guide. However no matter how long it goes when I press the guide button nothing happens. When I go into the menu for guide it give me a message about "unable to access, Data not available. I do have a dual OTA hooked to it also. Now I have reset and unplugged several times. So last thing I did was to unplug the OTA and restart. Bam a guide, but obviously no locals. So I plug the ota back in and what do you know, no guide. Same issue, guide button on remote does nothing and same message from within the menu. Any help is appreciated before I deal with dish on this.

I'd unplug the OTA adapter and let the Hopper 3 finish setting itself up for a couple of days, then try the OTA adapter again.

It actually sounds like the OTA adapter is faulty.

BTW - the best way to redo the guide is to do a Check Switch test. I'd agree with Jim to let the H3 finish getting a guide, and then maybe Saturday or Sunday hookup the OTA dongle (and after scanning for OTA channels) , and do another Check Switch test to force a guide download.

Doing power cycles to force guide updates is not recommended.

A check switch will do absolutely nothing for a guide download on a Hopper.
The only thing to do is make sure all Joeys are in standby then put the Hopper in standby with no recording in progress and a guide download should begin shortly.

After doing check switch and everything else, nothing seemed to work. I got ahold of dish and the remote checked my H3. They had to force a dvr/guide update on their side. I asked if this was something I could do on my end and she stated that it was something they had to do on their end. I had a very different looking pop up box on the H3 come up with a Guide down load percentage. Looked almost old school DOS like. But it work.
