Not getting all available channels coming through OTA ADAPTER. I can get 15 channels directly to a TV, all good signals. Only 12 channels through the OTA to the hopper. Missing CBS, NBC &FOX. I have scanned many times. Any ideas?
I have a Smart TV in the basement hooked up to my antenna and pickup over 30 channels without moving the Antenna. I have the same Antenna hooked up to my Fabulous Hopper and get maybe 6 channels, that in my opinion “Sucks”! I guess Dish wants you to buy more packages, but most of my local channels are not available to me because I’m in the wrong zip code! Over my Antenna connection to my Smart TV, I’m picking up stations from over 75 miles away, wonder why the Hopper Connection can’t, sounds like a Update is in order DISH!

The difference between my Sony TV and my HWS with a black AirTV dual-tuner adapter is one low-power station and the two local NEXTGEN TV stations. I get 56 channels on the Hopper and 64 on the TV (six of which are the ATSC 3.0 stations). While not perfect, it is certainly great.

...with a black AirTV dual-tuner adapter...
Just so we are clear which adapter we are talking about, the black model is known as the "Lark" adapter (named after the manufacturer). It is the one with Dish branding on the case. Mine is the white model, with AirTV branding on the case. The white one is usually the only one referred to as the "AirTV" adapter, to avoid confusion.

(If there actually is a black version branded as "AirTV," then I apologize, but I have never seen one.)

Funny base to define/distinguish ... "black/white lark/airtv" ...
I would connect it to WinPC, by using USB Treeview app pull all info from it. And will post here.

Okay, so to help everyone else reading this distinguish among the various Dish OTA USB adapter models:

The original single-tuner model was manufactured by Pace. Since it is the only single-tuner model compatible with Dish receivers, it is okay to simply refer to the Pace adapter as the "single-tuner OTA Dish adapter." It is larger than the other OTA USB adapters, with a detachable USB-B cable.

The first dual-tuner model was manufactured by Hauppauge. It is the smallest model, with a detachable USB-A extension cable. It can also be plugged directly into the Hopper's USB port, although that is not recommended. This model was discontinued, due to a reputation for overheating and failing prematurely.

The replacement dual-tuner USB OTA adapter is the Lark model. It is identical to the AirTV dual-tuner model except for the color of the case and the branding on the case (Dish or AirTV). The USB cable is not detachable.

However, the white AirTV model pictured in post number 12 is their single-tuner model. It is not compatible with Dish receivers. The single-tuner model has a detachable USB-A extension cable, with the AirTV branding printed on the case in gray lettering. On the dual-tuner model that does work with Hoppers, the white AirTV lettering is molded into the case.

I hope this helps.

Perhaps we will see a picture of its PCB and will find out what tuner chips used there.
How is this going to do anything more than add to your personal pile of minutiae?

psanrules' offer notwithstanding, chances of obtaining an AirTV dual tuner model are small. This thread is about improving the situation, not determining what the devices are made of.

Because the eMPIA chip itself doesn't contain any tuner functionality, I don't imagine that it has any impact on the reception of TV stations.
Anecdotally, people have reported better performance with the white AirTV model than with the black Lark model, for whatever reason. For instance, people who were having the pixilated recordings problem (that was reported by bookwalk in post number 19) with the Lark model saw that issue disappear after switching to the white AirTV model. From my own experience, I used to have that exact same problem all of the time with the Lark, but have not seen it since switching to the white AirTV adapter.

psanrules' offer notwithstanding
And that offer is still withstanding. ;)

I don't care what P Smith does with the adapter, after I send it. (If I send it, since P Smith still has not replied to my private message.) So, if P Smith wants to open it up and take pictures of the chips, that's fine by me.

@psanrules

I would be GREATLY interested in your Dual OTA Adapter by AirTV. I DO NOT want to take it apart, I actually want to try replacing my Lark Dual OTA Adapter that I just got a couple weeks ago. I didn't realize that the Dual OTA Adapter Manufacturer actually made a difference. I bought my Lark version from Amazon. I thought, when I bought the Lark, that the OTA Antenna did most of the work, NOT the DISH Dual OTA Adapter.

How much do you want for the AirTV unit?

Just curious if the AirTV dual OTA adapter worked for you? Here it is 2025 and I am having the same issue. I have the Dish OTA adapter and can get 26 channels but if I plug the coax into tv bypassing adapter, I get 50 channels. Dish no longer sells the OTA so I was hoping for an alternative. I have the Hopper 3. I see the Dish adapter is available on Amazon, eBay etc. but I don’t know if buying the same thing again will make any difference.
