Today is the last day of my half price Starz/Showtime and free Movies Extra pak. Just to remove them before I'm charged full price, I called in. I also asked about that voicemail I recieved and posted about a few posts up. That was indeed a scam that they are seeing a lot. What people do is pretend to be from big companies like DirecTV, AT&T, Verizon, etc... and based on brand recgonition and the premise of saving money will lie and pull on the heartstrings of usually the elderly and uninformed. They will generally ask for a processing fee like $100 or giftcards up front and the scammer gets the money and you never get your promised discount.

So I'm already on Select which is not an advertised package. I got an extra $25 off a month for a year.

I'll revisit premium channels after summer. With it light out later and being outside more with the dogs and kids, I don't generally watch as much TV anyway. If I want to watch any of these channels, they usually still work through the DirecTV app for a few months after canceling anyway. I canceled HBO a month ago and its still working on the app, just not the Satellite receiver. Watched Casino the other night, great movie. Though they did accurately cut out HBO Max access. That no longer authenticates. I'm even getting the MGM channels on the App and I've never paid for them.

So wait. You're still getting the $25 Loyalty credit, which for me includes HBO Max subscription & HBO channels, but you don't have HBO Max access or is it just the streaming channels you don't have?

They sent something 4 months ago saying something to the effect that they will start charging for the channels (some subscribers I believe), but you will still have HBO Max app for free. I still haven't been charged & get the discount, but maybe mine is different since a lady from the Office of the President added the code to my account. So I have the channels still & access via the HBO Max app. I don't use Directv's app.

No we do not get HBO anymore. They decoupled the AT&T wireless partnership with DirecTV. My wife has the AT&T wireless phone. My phone is paid for from my employer.

That did happen where we lost HBO. I added it back free for 2 months then removed it when that promo ended. Now we don't have access to it at all. The ONLY reason my wife had AT&T Unlimited (a very old grandfathered plan) was for the DirecTV tie in. She got into a more modern plan and now her cell phone bill is significantly cheaper.

I'll revisit in the future if they ever offer a half price or a promo deal for HBO. They readded the half price on the website for Starz and Showtime / Paramount+ that I just canceled because my half price expired. I'm going to let it ride a little first and enjoy a sub $60 TV bill for once before adding anything back on.

Wow. We have the AT&T $25 loyalty discount as well and it is the reason we keep our cellphone plan. But we did not lose the ability to stream HBO Max since that is part of the cellphone deal. The Directv part is the $25 and included the HBO live channels.

Have you tried downloading the HBO Max app & signing in with the cellphone login? A couple of devices I sign in with hubby's AT&T login, but on our tvs it's my Directv login.

Yes I tried both DirecTV and AT&T as a provider. DirecTV - used my login, and AT&T used my wifes login.

I think AT&T no longer offers it anymore. She got on a better plan so that could be part of the issue.

Oh okay. That is probably it because that is a grandfathered plan. They keep trying to get us to switch, but hubby does not want to cause the newer plans are cheaper yet offer less.

Question thinijg about changing to a Spanish tier again , does anyone know the base price of MAS ULTRA.. with the updated website it keeps directing me to D* via internet prices. Not finding info for sat Spanish packages.

Direct TV customer since 1998. I have a grandfathered Choice Extra Classic package with Sports Pack and MLB Extra Innings. Pretty sure my account was never transferred to ATT billing. Three years ago I got a $55 / mo discount. Two years ago that was reduced to $ 45 / mo. Last year when I was having all kind of technical problems with channels in Sports Pack I had to call Customer Service with complaints some 5-10 times. At renewal I was able to get the $45 / mo continued, 6 months of free Sports Pack for the problems with it and a $ 100 VISA card.

This year when calling (855 531-5500) and asking for RETENTION the rep offered $35 / mo. I asked for a supervisor and she said essentially she was it. I asked if I had to enter a cancellation order to get some serious negotiation and she said if you enter a cancellation order now I can talk to VIP.

I put in the cancellation order for July 8 with her and she transferred me to a VIP rep. The best she offered was the $45 / mo that I had been receiving for the last two years. Both kept saying they could only offer 'What is in front of them'. She also downplayed the supervisor angle.

I accepted the $45 / mo with no contract and she did say that no offers to existing customers include a 2-year contract and a larger discount is not available even if you did want to enter one.

Yeah I get the "what's in front of them on my account" which for me is always nothing. One time I think it was $20 off for 12 months.

It might if the reason that you were hanging around was to see what kinds of discounts you could weasel.
ya know at one point in time i respected your posts.. now all they do is seem to rip anyone who stays with directv.. while D* isn't the beauty queen it was in the past.. it serves a purpose.. in 24 years i am not the Hunk that my wife married either.. but we both need each other.. Some of us still need Directv.. allow us to do so with dignity.
